🫧 China’s AI stock bubble just burst
popped how bad? 😳

Chinese AI stocks have lost about $480 billion in under four months, with the STAR 50 index of AI and chip companies down 40%. Robot maker Unitree, whose IPO was 8,000 times oversubscribed, has lost half its value since August.

In China, the AI bubble has already burst

what set it off? 💣

There wasn’t one trigger. Traders blame sky-high prices, tax bills and US threats to ban Chinese gear from data centers, and those stocks still trade at about 100 times earnings.

didn’t China also just put out an AI movie? 🎬

It did, and that flopped too. Sanxingdui: Future Past made about $181,000 its opening weekend, and one Beijing screening had just four people in the seats.

ok real question, is the US next? 😬

The warning lights are on. Alphabet just had its worst day ever, falling 13% after burning $9 billion in cash in a quarter while it pours money into AI.

Gemini 4 Carbon just took the #1 spot 🥇
didn’t Google drop a new Gemini like a month ago? 😅

It did, Gemini 4 Argon came out in late September. Gemini 4 Carbon is its new strongest model, built to work on tasks for days and hunt down security holes.

how big of a jump is it? 🏃

Big enough to lead. It’s #1 of 57 models on Artificial Analysis’ leaderboard and first on Text Arena, though Claude Opus 5.5 still beats it on agent tasks.

anything it’s bad at?

Yeah… telling the truth. It makes up answers more often than Argon did. It’s also slow, taking about 104 seconds to start answering in independent testing.

When can I try it for myself though? 👀

It’ll be a while. In true Google fashion, it’s only letting select cyber defenders in through a program called Fairwind, and free Gemini users don’t even have Gemini 4 models yet.

weekly scoop 🍦
🛍️ weekly challenge: put your AI on Black Friday watch

Challenge: Carbon can grind on a task for days, but you can’t use it yet. This week, put the AI you already have on daily price patrol until Black Friday so you never overpay.

Here’s what to do:

🎯 Step 1: Pick your targets. Ask ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude: “I want to buy [items] by Black Friday. Based on past deals, what’s a good sale price for each, and which stores usually discount them?”

📅 Step 2: Set a daily check. Tell ChatGPT: “Every morning until Nov 27, check these prices at Amazon, Walmart, Target and Best Buy, and alert me if any hit my target.” Scheduled tasks are free in ChatGPT, while Gemini and Claude need a paid plan.

🔎 Step 3: Double-check the deal. When an alert lands, click through and confirm the price and seller yourself, since AI can misread a sale or a sketchy third-party listing.

💳 Step 4: Pull the trigger. Buy once it hits your number, then delete the task so it stops pinging you.

Do you think the US AI boom is headed for China’s fate? And does Google’s #1 spot count if almost nobody can use it? We'd love to hear your thoughts!
